1. What this Policy covers
This Cookie Policy explains how Plota (Design & Desktop, LLC) uses cookies and similar technologies (local storage, pixels, scripts) on https://plota.app.
It should be read with our Privacy Policy. We use a consent banner for all visitors: non-essential cookies (analytics) are used only after you choose “Accept all”. This approach also supports ePrivacy/GDPR expectations for visitors in the EEA/UK.
2. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Similar technologies include local storage keys and scripts that collect device/usage information. Cookies may be “session” (deleted when you close the browser) or “persistent” (remain until expiry or deletion).
3. Types of cookies we use
- Strictly necessary — required for security, load balancing, authentication/session, fraud prevention, and storing your cookie consent choice. These do not require consent.
- Preferences — remember settings such as theme (light/dark) or currency. These are limited to functionality you request.
- Analytics (optional) — Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, loaded only if you click “Accept all”.
4. Strictly necessary & preference storage
Examples of necessary/preference storage include:
- plota-cookie-consent (localStorage) — stores “all” or “necessary” so we respect your choice.
- plota-theme (localStorage) — light/dark theme preference.
- Authentication/session cookies set by our auth provider (e.g. Supabase) when you log in.
- Payment-related cookies/storage used by Stripe during checkout on Stripe-hosted or embedded flows.
5. Analytics cookies (consent required)
If you accept analytics, we load:
- Google Analytics (Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC)) — page views, events, device/browser data, approximate location from IP. Privacy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
- Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation)) — usage analytics, heatmaps, and session replay to improve UX. Privacy: https://privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement.
6. What happens if you refuse analytics
If you select “Necessary only”, we do not load Google Analytics or Microsoft Clarity scripts. You can still browse, create an account, and purchase eSIMs.
7. How to manage or withdraw consent
You can withdraw analytics consent at any time. Use “Manage cookie preferences” on this page to reset your choice; the cookie banner will appear again. You may also clear site data for plota.app in your browser, or block cookies in browser settings. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
8. Third-party cookies
Stripe, Google, and Microsoft may process data as independent controllers or processors depending on the context. We do not control all cookies set by those parties on their own domains. Review their policies for details.
9. Updates
We may update this Cookie Policy when our tools or legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date at the top will change accordingly.
